Siddhartha's Father tries to prevent Siddhartha from entering the Special World, the spiritual world of the Samanas. Siddhartha must bypass his father's hesitance of letting him go on his journey by appeasing to him. Siddhartha does this by promising that if his journey does not work out, he shall return to his family and material wealth.
Govinda tests the authenticity of Siddhartha's desire to reach enlightenment on his own by staying with Buddha. Siddhartha could stay with Govinda, his best acquaintance, or follow the Illustrious One, who Siddhartha does not believe could help him reach enlightenment. Upon leaving Govinda and allowing Govinda to stay with the Illustrious One, Siddhartha proves his commitment to finding enlightenment in the way he sees best.
